Inviwo

Modernization of the official Inviwo website

Inviwo Profile

Inviwo is a software framework with the intended use of visualizing scientific data. Important for the redesigning of the website is knowing who your target audience is. What's the target age-group? How proficient are they with computer technology?
What are their main goals in visiting the website?
All those and more questions have to be addressed to create an intuitive and satisfying user experience.

For the Inviwo website the target audience mainly consists of scientists that want to visualize their complex data. The age-group is estimated to range from about 18 to 65 years, where the majority of visitors will trend towards the lower limit. Now the audience will split into two groups: visitors that intend to use Inviwo for their projects and visitors that only want to inform themself about the framework. This and more analysis will then determine the main services of the website.
In this case we wanted a website that delivers the download of the Inviwo framework within a easy as possible. The second big part is the general information about what Inviwo is and what it is capable of. The last major goal of the website is teaching Inviwo. From getting started tutorials to in depth information about Inviwo, nothing should stand in the way of being able to use Inviwo for great results.

Tutorials

In addition to the website and documentation, we created short video tutorials to get beginners up to speed quickly. The tutorials are screencaptures of the Inviwo software with audio explanation. To better understand what is explained audibly and what is performed on screen, I created animations to visually aid and connect the explanation.
